                                         AUDIT HISTORY REPORTER FOR JIRA

To access the application you must to be a site admin or jira admin.

Navigate to: Settings → Marketplace Apps → Apps → Audit History Reporter for Jira

Site Admin Settings

If you are a Site Admin, the application displays the Maximum Days Search setting before you start the application.

This setting allows you to limit the maximum number of days of Jira audit history that can be requested in a single search. Leave it empty to allow searches without a date restriction. Limiting the search period can help reduce processing time and the likelihood of Jira rate limiting on large audit histories.

The setting applies company-wide to all users of the application.

Click the information icon next to the setting to view additional details. After configuring the setting, click Start Application to continue.

Searching Audit History

This screen is displayed to Jira Admins when they access the application and to Site Admins after clicking Start Application.

The available date range depends on the Maximum Days Search setting configured by the Site Admin.

If Maximum Days Search is left empty, Date From and Date To are optional. You can:

  • Leave both dates empty to search the entire available Jira audit history.
  • Specify only Date From to search from a particular date onward.
  • Specify both Date From and Date To to search a specific date interval.

When no dates are selected, clicking Search displays a warning before the search starts:

No Date From or Date To is selected. Jira may return a very large audit history, which can take a long time, use significant API capacity, and may be affected by rate limiting.

The Date From condition can be set to After, On, or On or After. The Date To condition can be set to Before, On, or On or Before, allowing precise control over whether the selected boundary dates are included.

If the Site Admin has configured a Maximum Days Search, the application validates the selected date range before performing the search. The requested interval cannot exceed the company-wide maximum number of days configured by the Site Admin.

Filtering and Reviewing Audit Results

After you click Search, the matching Jira audit records are displayed in the results table. You can now narrow the result set using the filters in the FILTER AUDIT RECORDS BY section. Filters can be combined to progressively refine the results.

The available filter values are generated from the current search result set. This means that selectable fields contain only values that actually exist in the loaded audit records, preventing searches for values that are not present in the data.

Selectable Value Filters

The first five filters use selectable values:

  • Author
  • Category
  • Object Type
  • Field Name
  • Associated Item Type

One or more available values can be selected to filter the audit records.

Selectable Value or Text Filters

The next three filters provide both Select Values and Text Filters modes:

  • Summary
  • Object Name
  • Associated Item Name

Each field can be set to Any, Has Value, or No Value.

When Any or Has Value is selected, you can further filter the field in either of two ways:

  • Select Values – select one or more values that exist in the current result set.
  • Text Filters – enter text using Contains and/or Does Not Contain.

When No Value is selected, no additional value or text selection is required.

Text Filters

The remaining fields use text-based filtering:

  • Author Account ID
  • Author Key
  • Object ID
  • Object Parent ID
  • Changed From
  • Changed To
  • Associated Item ID
  • Associated Item Parent ID
  • Remote Address

These filters support Contains and Does Not Contain. They also provide the applicable Any, Has Value, and No Value selection for controlling whether a value must be present.

After configuring the desired filters, click Filter Audit Records to apply them. Use Clear Filters to remove the configured filters and return to the complete loaded result set.

Working with the Results Table

Each displayed column is sortable. Click a column heading to sort the results by that column and change the sort direction.

Use Select Visible Columns to choose which audit fields are displayed in the table. Columns can be added or removed at any time to focus the table on the information relevant to your investigation.

Some audit fields can contain large amounts of text. Set Truncation allows you to select which supported columns should truncate long values to 22 characters, keeping the table compact and easier to review. A truncated value remains clickable; clicking it opens a pop-up displaying the complete value.

Truncation affects only the on-screen presentation. Exported values are always complete and are never truncated.

Pagination and Navigation

The controls below the table allow you to navigate large result sets. You can:

  • Select the number of Rows per page.
  • Move to the Previous or Next page.
  • See the current page and total number of pages.
  • Use Go to Page to navigate directly to a specific page.
  • See the total number of matching audit records.

Exporting Results

Two export options are available:

  • Export Page – exports the records on the currently displayed page.
  • Export All – exports the complete matching result set.

For either option, you can choose between CSV and Excel format.

Exports include only the columns currently selected under Select Visible Columns. However, all exported field values contain their complete, non-truncated data, regardless of the table's truncation settings.

Chart View

Select Charts to visualize the audit records in the current result set. The chart reflects the records returned by the search and any filters that have been applied.

Use Chart By to choose how the audit records are grouped. Available options are Category, Object Type, Event Source, and Field.

Use Chart Type to select the visualization. Available chart types are Bar, Horizontal Bar, Horizontal Stacked Bar, Pie, and Stacked Bar.

For stacked bar charts, Cadence controls how audit activity is grouped over time. Available options are Auto, Year, Month, Week, and Day. When Auto is selected, the application automatically chooses the cadence that best matches the date range and data being displayed.

You can switch between Table and Charts at any time without changing the current search and filter results.
